Digital Entry Entry Guidelines

  • A 30-60 second video in the file format of .mp4 of a manufactured piece of jewellery featuring freeform/undulating Australian opal, highlighting the unique features of the piece.
  • Email the AOA team at entries@australianopalawards.com.au for a link to the Australian Opal Awards 2027 Dropbox folder to submit the video. AI-generated Images or Movies are not permissible.
  • All submitted videos must be free of any watermarks, advertising text, logos, or maker’s marks and manufacturing marks.
  • Any grade of Australian opals may be used in either category; however, they must be untreated, natural Australian opal.
  • Judging will be based on creativity, and the innovative incorporation of opal is crucial.
  • High-quality workmanship and attention to detail are important, and overall craftsmanship is vital.
  • Finishing Quality: A well-finished piece is essential.
  • Judges will look for unique and original designs.
  • Attention to detail and finishing quality will be key factors in the evaluation. Judges will also consider how well the entrant has incorporated the natural challenges of the opal into their design.
